‘Projects and Scenes’ has officially launched! The latest major product update for the Replica studios app, enables game developers, animators, and filmmakers to manage scripts and dialogue with 100s of lines and a multitude of characters, in a simple-to-use interface.

We'd like to share a bit more about why we're so excited about this major update.

The new Projects and Scenes interface enables narrative designers, writers, and creatives to quickly test out different story ideas quickly through the easy to use interface, by simply typing out a script and casting characters from Replica Studios’ growing voice library to perform the lines in the script.

Teams can now export voice lines from Replica Studios into their game engine or animation software of choice with a few clicks and test out their story with visuals and characters in-situ. This gives creators the ability to pitch their ideas to stakeholders with Replica’s high quality AI voice actors and see it play out in early builds of the game, as it is being developed.

Harnessing Voice for powerful storytelling

Narrative and story-driven games and animation often feature thousands of lines of dialogue spanning dozens of characters. It's how games and movies tell stories, through the voice of the characters. Great voice acting can make a game more immersive, or a movie feel more authentic.

In order to ship a great game or film, script writers and narrative designers spend a lot of time trying to create the most immersive experience through visuals, sound, voice, and dialogue, as well as the actual story itself.

One of the biggest challenges they face through the life cycle of a project is getting buy-in from internal teams, producers, and other stakeholders as they test out different story ideas and scripts.

Since it would be cost prohibitive to hire voice actors very early on when the script is still changing, writers resort to robotic TTS or even just lines of text on the screen as they pitch their ideas to stakeholders.

As you can imagine, this breaks immersion, and the result is that writers and narrative designers don't have the right tools to help communicate their ideas, or experiment freely - which ultimately compromises on the creative vision and depth of storytelling.

This challenge is what motivated Replica Studios to develop the update to empower creators. Creators can now craft entire stories and narratives, and export entire scenes with 100s of lines of AI voice-enabled dialogue into game engines, animation software, and other creative tools with a few clicks of a button.

What used to be an almost impossible task for logistics and cost of having voice actors re-voice a line every time a line of dialogue was changed can now be achieved in a few minutes using Replica during the pre-production and experimentation stages.
